The Urban Flora Boys, a local dance group comprised of four talented youngsters from Khubvi village, left soccer fans in awe with their performance after a football tournament held at the Benji's Sports Grounds in the late afternoon of Saturday (12th).
The group came into existence during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. As restrictions lifted and they found themselves with newfound freedom, the group was formed to keep the young members engaged and active. Phathutshedzo Neluonde, one of the group members, shared that during the lockdown, they realised they needed something productive to do, and since they were not involved in sports, they decided to form a dance group to fill their time.
When questioned about their dance moves during the performance, the group members explained that they blended the bujwa and sekhothane dance styles. They mentioned that they rely on their own feelings and creativity to come up with their dance routines. Each member brings his unique style to the group, resulting in a distinctive and captivating performance.
When discussing their future plans, the group members indicated that while some of them might not be inclined towards singing, they were all passionate about dancing. They expressed their desire to join local music groups as dancers and have also been receiving invitations to perform at various events, including weddings, community functions, and political rallies.
