The second Gospel Music Awards was a day of glitz, glamour and joyful celebration as gospel artists and radio presenters were honoured for their contributions to the genre. The event took place at Entshonalanga Church on Saturday, with each winner receiving a certificate and trophy.

Organiser Mr Vuledzani Tharaga said the awards aimed to recognise and nurture local talent, encouraging excellence in gospel music and broadcasting. "We want this initiative to become a legacy — something that future generations can build on," he said.

Tharaga noted a positive shift in the community since recognising individuals for their work. "Encouragement leads to more hard work, and when people work, communities develop. That's exactly what we want to see," he said. "We'll continue identifying those making a difference and honouring them publicly."

Among the evening's highlights was the recognition of Past Latani Violet Liremi of the African Apostolic Faith Mission Church, a popular gospel presenter on Phalaphala FM. She received the award for Best Gospel Show Presenter.

"I thank everyone who has supported me on my journey," said Liremi. "My listeners have made me who I am. The support has been amazing, and I'm grateful for every vote. Winning more awards would be wonderful, but all the glory belongs to the Lord, who entrusted me with the gift of worship."
