Lwamondo Pull Together were crowned champions of the Survivor Khuthi Soccer Tournament at the Lwamondo Baboon Grounds last Saturday.
Pull Together beat Tshifulanani Celtics 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the final after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.
Pull Together secured their place in the final with a 1-0 victory over Tshifulanani Maximum Force in the semi-finals. The team was presented with R3,000, a floating trophy, gold medals, a soccer ball, and sanitary towels for the school of their choice during a ceremony held at the grounds after the match.
Tshifulanani Celtics went home with R2,000, silver medals, and a soccer ball. Celtics' journey to the final included a narrow 1-0 win over Madala Silver Stars in their semi-final. The third-place prize went to Tshifulanani Maximum Force, who received R1,000 and a soccer ball. Madala Silver Stars were given a consolation prize of two soccer balls.
Ndingoho Mulaudzi of Lwamondo Pull Together was named Player of the Tournament. He also won the Best Defender award, which included a bursary valued at R17,000 for full training in fire and security at the Survivor Fire and Rescue College, as well as a full driver's licence course at Khuthi's Driving School. Mulweli Nelwamondo of Pull Together received the Best Goalkeeper award.
The Best Midfielder award went to Mulenga Neswiswi, while the Most Disciplined Player award was presented to Pfarelo Thabo, both from Tshifulanani Celtics. Kenneth Mukwevho of Pull Together won the Best Coach award and was presented with a coaching board.
