The Mabena Soccer Tournament continues this weekend at the Mashamba Grounds, with the last 16 teams battling it out on Saturday and Sunday.
The competition kicked off last weekend with 32 teams. The eventual champions will walk away with R70,000, a floating trophy, two soccer kits and gold medals. The runners-up will earn R40,000, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will receive R20,000 and R10,000 respectively, along with soccer kits.
Saturday's fixtures include Rabali Pull Together against Chavani Shooting Stars at 08:00, followed by Matsa All Stars against Mpheni Academy at 10:00. Tshikhwani Stone Breakers face Mukondeni Shooting Stars at 12:00 in what promises to be the highlight of the day. Masakona Real Citizen then take on Makhitha Oscar Stars, one of the tournament favourites.
On Sunday, Mashamba Soccer Academy meet Mukondeni Young Chiefs at 08:00, before Mphadzha Try Again clash with Madombidzha Try Again at 10:00. Vhembe Tron and ABC FC face off at 12:00, with SMSA FC and Madridtas wrapping up the day at 14:00.
The quarter-finals will be staged on 24 September, with the semis and final set for 27 September at the same venue.
