The U/13 side of Madombidzha Angry Lion City were crowned champions of the KFC U/13 Development Top 8 tournament on Sunday. The final was played at Mabaleng Sports Grounds in Tshiozwi Village, where they beat Tshikwarani Young Tigers 1-0.
Angry Lion City's road to the final included a semi-final against Mabaleng Development, which they won 3-1 on penalties after a goalless draw. Tshikwarani Young Tigers reached the final by defeating Sinthumule All Stars 3-0.
The tournament was organised by Mamu Community Development, a non-profit organisation that not only promotes sport but also aims to identify talented junior players.
Madombidzha Angry Lion City Under-13 chairman Mr Anthony Takara said he was impressed with the commitment of his players throughout the tournament. He said they had spent three weeks preparing for the event.
Mamu Community Development general secretary Jafter Mamugudubi said they were pleased with how the tournament was run and thanked the sponsor, KFC, for its commitment to sports development.
