Madombidzha Arsenal, a team playing under the banner of the Safa Vhembe, rewarded players who performed well during the 2022/3 soccer season during a function held at the PNS Lodge at Madombidzha last Saturday evening. The team also received a new sponsorship, which includes new soccer boots and tracksuits for all the players.
According to the secretary of the team, Mr Trinity, the main idea of rewarding the players with trophies and certificates was to motivate them to play well and work harder in their matches. "Our main focus is to produce players that will play in the elite league. We have many talented young players," said Tshivhula. He also thank the Tshivhodza Group for their sponsorship.
The guest speaker at the event, Adv Maxwell Sikhutshi, said football was a good tool to fight unemployment and poverty. He said that the government alone could not fight against the high rate of unemployment. He appealed to the private sector to pump more funds into the development of sports.
During the event, the club's main sponsor, Mr Norman Mulaudzi of the Tshivhodza Group, motivated the players to set their own goals and to know what they wanted as players. "Some of the players won't make it to the Premier Soccer League or National First Division, but as individuals, if you have goals and work hard towards achieving your goals and dreams, you will make it," he said.
The players who performed well during the soccer season are Player of the Season - Vhutshilo Munyai; Player's Player of the Season - Ntendeni Ratshikhopha; Top goal scorer - Vhutshilo Munyai; Goalkeeper of the Season - Andani Thovhakale; Most Disciplined Player - Ntendeni Ratshikhopha; Chairman's Award - Mafukata Phumudzo; Midfielder of the Season - Vhutshilo Munyai; Defender of the Season - Percy Moshokoa. Kingsley Lethole walked away with the Save of the Season award and the Young Player of the Season award went to Masindi Ntswane.
