The new champions of the Hollywoodbets Women's Development Soccer Cup are Madombidzha Angry Lion City Ladies. They secured their victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Zoutpansberg Powerline Ladies in the final, held at the Mabaleng Sports Grounds in Tshiozwi Village on 5 January.
Madombidzha's ladies advanced to the final after defeating Hollywoodbets Mabaleng Development Ladies 1-0 in the semi-final on 4 January. In the other semi-final, Zoutpansberg Powerline Ladies faced off against Madabani Green Mambas Ladies. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, the match went into extra time, with Zoutpansberg eventually triumphing 7-6.
For their efforts, the champions were awarded a trophy, gold medals, a soccer kit, R5,000, and a hamper from the sponsor.
Hollywoodbets' Sponsorship Co-ordinator, Mr Nkanyiso Dlamini, praised the tournament's organisers, Mamu Community Development, for their excellent management of the event. He also reaffirmed the sponsor's commitment to supporting initiatives that identify young female soccer talent in the coming years.
