The Madridtas Soccer Challenge final game between Madridtas FC and Phandulaluvalo FC that was played at the Tshifudi Stadium on Saturday ended in chaos, after an argument between the referee and the captain of Phandulaluvalo, Walter Netshikweta.
No goal was scored in the first half, but Phandulaluvalo came back from the half-time break five minutes later than the agreed time. That prompted the referee to reprimand Netshikweta, who retaliated by swearing at the referee.
As Netshikweta had been reprimanded by the referee with a yellow card for an unrelated offence shortly before the end of the first half, the referee gave him his marching orders for his vulgar words. The officials of the team then ordered the players to leave the pitch and pack their bags and go, saying they were sick and tired of "daylight robbery".
The sponsor and organizer of the tournament, Mr Ndivhuwo "DJ" Nthai, expressed his disappointment with the incident. He stated that the decision taken by Phandulaluvalo was not in line with the spirit of promoting friendship through sports.
