Madridtas FC are still in a celebratory mood after they were crowned the overall champions of the Vhembe Regional Association at the Makhuvha Stadium last Sunday. Madridtas beat Rabali Pull Together 2-1 in the final and qualified to represent the region in the provincial playoffs at the Bela Bela High School Stadium this weekend.
Madridtas's goals came via Mulisa Ramusia and Idani Nelufule in the first half. Pull Together were awarded a penalty later in the game and Donald Mudau made no mistake from the white spot.
Madridtas's way to the final went via Berea FC, with whom they played to a 2-2 draw in their opening group-stage match at the Tshifulanani Stadium on Saturday. They proved all the critics wrong when they rose to the occasion and beat Mpheni Home Defenders 1-0 to secure a place in the semi-final stage of the tournament. The Tshifudi side did the expected on Sunday morning when they brutally crushed Muziafera Blue Eagles 5-2 in their semi-final game.
When asked about the secret behind the team's success, the team's head coach, Mr Ernot Dzaga, attributed the achievement to a number of factors. He repeatedly said that his players had demonstrated a great deal of commitment throughout the tournament. According to him, his players played according to his instructions as their mentor.
Mr Dzaga praised the management for the manner in which the team was run. According to him, Madridtas FC are run in a professional way, despite the fact that the team is campaigning in the amateur division. He reiterated the fact that his team is ready for the provincial playoffs.
