Madyisa Nkuna steered Gonono FC to a 1-0 victory over Holofan BigTen in the semifinals of the James Rasimphi Summer games played at the Masia grounds on Sunday.

Holofan took the game to Gonono in the first 20 minutes. Their speedy forward, Benie Lebea, let them down by shooting aimlessly at the goal finish. Gonono's diminutive kingpin, Lody Mabasa, beat the offside trap but lost possession with keeper Fumani Nkuna at his mercy.

Khumbudzo Mabidi, the Gonono left flank, had his chance in the 25th minute after receiving a brilliant pass from Given Baloyi. He shot aimlessly from close range and the ball went wide. The referee flashed the first yellow card in the 40th minute. Nyiko Hlungwani obstructed Ntsako Maswanganyi and the referee was lenient enough to let him go with yellow.

The score board was still blank when the teams adjourned for half time. Early in the second half, Gonono introduced Madyisa Nkuna and Themba Maimela respectively. The only goal of the match came in the 80th minute. Madyisa Nkuna beat the keeper after dribbling past two defenders in a row.

Holofan initially showed a spirit of commitment, but their original stamina vanished and their back line started to leak. Holofan had a taste of bad luck in the 86th minute when Hlompho Maswanganyi shot into the hands of the keeper from the penalty spot in the dying minutes.
