Maebani Zebras FC won the final of the KFC Pre-Season Cup, played at the Mabaleng Sports Grounds in Tshiozwi on Sunday, 5 October. They beat Madabani Green Mambas on penalties after the match had ended in a 3-3 draw.
In the first semi-final, Madabani faced the Mabaleng Development side. The match ended goalless, and the outcome was decided via a penalty shootout.
In the second semi-final, Maebani eliminated Madombidzha Angry Lion City comfortably, with a 4-2 victory.
The tournament was organised by Mamu Community Development. The champions went home with R5,000, a trophy and gold medals. The runners-up received R2,500, while the two semi-finalists each received R1,000.
Maebani Zebras' chairperson, Mr Rendani "Chairman" Muvhali, said he was impressed with his players' commitment. He added that they had been preparing for the tournament for the past month. "Such development tournaments allow us to groom and promote our players to our senior team," he said.
Mamu's general secretary, Mr Jafter Mamugudubi, thanked the sponsors who made the tournament possible.
