The opening matches of the second edition of the Magenge Super Cup Soccer Tournament were played at the Mathevani Grounds in Majosi, outside Vuwani, over the past weekend. The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony at the Majosi Grounds on Sunday, 24 August. Sixteen teams from Majosi and surrounding areas are participating.
According to organiser Tshifhiwa Maumela, the champions will receive R30,000, a floating trophy and a soccer kit. The runners-up will get R11,000 and a soccer kit, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will receive R7,000 and R5,000 respectively.
Two matches were scheduled for Saturday, with another two planned for Sunday. Shilumani Training Academy and Magenge FC face off in one of Saturday's matches, while Ndengeza Chief Defenders will host Hlasela FC later in the day.
Sunday's programme opens with Mukondeni United FC taking on Hozana Santos at 13:00, followed by the match between Goloza Football Academy and Jackson Young Stars.
The semi-finals and final will be played at the same venue on Saturday, 27 September.
