After a break of about two weeks, the teams affiliated to the Hollywoodbets Super League will resume playing this weekend. Maindis Ladies are bracing themselves for a tricky hurdle against Vasco da Gama Ladies, whom they will host at the Giyani Stadium on Saturday.
A win for Maindis is likely to push the team from the seventh to the fifth position on the log standings. The Bungeni side had started their league programme on a sad note, but the team's technical team seem to have found a winning combination of late.
Asked about their level of readiness for the game, the head coach of Maindis Ladies, Mr Sipho Mabuza, was quick to mention that the players were in the right frame of mind after collecting the maximum points in their last match. They beat Coal City Wizards 3-2 at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni and moved two steps up on the log standings.
The strikers of Maindis, Shamiso Mutasa and Noko Lamola, are expected to give the defenders of Vasco da Gama a run for their money. The keeper of Maindis, Simphiwe Mabukane, is one of the best goalies in the league.
Also on Saturday, the other Limpopo-based side, First Touch Ladies, will host Durban Ladies at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane. Coal City Wizards will travel to Mahikeng in the North-West. Their match against Golden Ladies will be played at the Mahikeng Stadium. Tsunami Queen will host Bloemfontein Celtic at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem, Free State. Richmond United will entertain University of Johannesburg FC at the Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberly.
The other fixtures are Thunderbirds Ladies vs TUT Football Club, Mamelodi Sundowns vs University of Western Cape Ladies and JVW FC vs City Lads. The fixtures for next Wednesday (21 September) are City Lads vs Vasco da Gama and Mamelodi Sundowns vs Maindis Ladies.
