After conceding a 0-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC in their previous match, Maindis Ladies are determined to bounce back and secure maximum points when they face Durban Ladies at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban this Saturday.
Mr Falaza Mdaka, the chairman of Maindis Ladies, expressed confidence in their ability to collect full points and restore the team's pride. The management and technical staff have been working diligently to improve the team's performance. He said that the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies highlighted the team's unwavering commitment to turning their fortunes around.
Mamelodi Sundowns currently lead the league with 47 points, followed closely by UWC FC with 45 points (but with a match in hand). Maindis Ladies, on the other hand, find themselves at the bottom of the standings with only six points.
Mdaka emphasised that everyone in the team was concerned about their current position in the league and steps were being taken to strengthen the squad. The registration of three Zimbabwean players is in progress and is expected to be completed within the first two weeks of the next month.
Additionally, Maindis Ladies recently parted ways with one of their goalkeepers, Lorreta Mokoena, and they are actively searching for a suitable replacement to provide backup for their number one goalkeeper, Theledi Monnye, in case of injury or illness.
In other fixtures this weekend, City Lads will host University of Johannesburg Ladies FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon. The only match scheduled for Sunday will be between Coal City Wizards and Richmond United at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni.
