Musina residents were deeply disappointed after a show by popular artist Makhadzi was cancelled, seemingly because of a misunderstanding between the event organiser, Mr Bembe Nedzingahe, and the host, Musina Rugby Field. Makhadzi was scheduled to entertain her Musina fans on 1 December.
According to Musina Rugby Field's bar manager, Nedzingahe had not paid for the venue in full up until the Wednesday prior to the event, and that was what led to the cancellation of the show.
Nedzingahe, on the other hand, says that paying for the venue was not part of their initial agreement. "We had a verbal agreement that there will be no cost for the venue, but the host would be selling alcohol to the fans. I was surprised to receive calls from the bar manager a few days before the show that I must pay R10 000 for the venue. This was not part of our agreement," said Nedzingahe.
Nedzingahe is not new regarding the organising of shows. "I have been organising similar shows for the past four years and the notion that I am scamming people is untrue. The 1 355 fans who had paid for the event through Computicket are free to go to Shoprite and request a refund," he said.
According to Nedzingahe, Makhadzi has not been to Musina for the past two years. "My intention was to let Musina and the surrounding community be entertained by Makhadzi," he said.
Meanwhile, a man said to be a go-between of Makhadzi and Nedzingahe indicated he would not comment as he was not part of the arrangement of Makhadzi's coming to Musina.
