Vhembe-born star Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, best known as Makhadzi, says her return to the stage follows a deeply personal battle with pain, fear, and uncertainty.
In a message posted on her Facebook page on 23 March, the award-winning performer from Mashamba village near Elim said she made her recovery look easy, but behind the scenes she was struggling. She relied on prayer to regain her strength.
Her comments follow a recent media statement from her team. Doctors have cleared her to return to work after her accident, and medical staff said they are satisfied with her recovery. But the journey back was not simple.
Makhadzi said she lost weight and, at one point, also struggled mentally. She said her dancers had to remind her of her songs, describing this as painful.
“I don’t want to lie, I never thought I would be back to this normal. Deep down I knew I was praying a hard prayer that God would give me strength to come back with the same energy. My mind was lost, and it really hit hard to be reminded of my own songs,” she said.
The turning point came when she returned to performing. She remembered her music without prompting. The performance reassured both her and her team.
“I allowed God to do His magic. I just killed the stage like an upcoming artist,” she said.
She said pushing through physical pain was part of the process. “Now I can dance without feeling any pain, even though there are still minor aches. I was not born to feel pain. I was born to heal people with music,” she said.
She has announced that her new album, Makhadzi Big 30 Episode 2, is set to drop on 30 March.
