The speculation that Black Leopards will play three or four of their opening league matches in Polokwane is only a myth.

According to the sports and recreation manager at the Thulamela Municipality, Mr Ronald Makhadi, the newly constructed Makhuvha Stadium will be ready to host Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches when Black Leopards play their first home NFD League match in three weeks' time.

Makhadi revealed that a delegate from the PSL paid them a visit two weeks ago with a view to inspecting the Makhuvha and Thohoyandou Stadium. He further said that the delegate, Prof Ronny Scholts, was impressed with the developments at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The Thohoyandou Stadium will not be ready when the league activities for the NFD start. Makhadi said that everything was in order at the Thohoyandou Stadium, but they were still busy with the final touches on the pitch. He indicated that they had spent R27 million towards the construction of the Makhuvha Stadium. Just like the Tshifulanani and Tshifudi Stadium, the Makhuvha Stadium has swimming pools and tennis courts to cater for other sporting codes within one campus.

Makhadi reiterated the fact that the Thohoyandou Stadium will be ready for use by the first week of November. He also said that Black Leopards would relocate to the Thohoyandou Stadium as soon as it was ready and leave the Makhuvha Stadium for the Safa second-division side, Basel FC. He stated that they had spent R7 million to renovate the Thohoyandou Stadium.
