Vhonani Emmanuel Rantsana, from Makonde village, has been elected Limpopo chairperson of the National Traditional, Indigenous and Contemporary Music of South Africa (NATICMUSA). The organisation promotes and preserves traditional, indigenous, and other marginalised music genres.
Rantsana was elected during a NATICMUSA conference at the Limpopo Provincial Archives in Polokwane on Thursday, 19 March. The event was attended by traditional leaders, musicians, and arts sector stakeholders.
The founder of Debig Beats Music and deputy chairperson of the Limpopo Arts and Culture Council (LACC), Rantsana said: “My experience, dedication, and hard work will take Limpopo NATICMUSA to a higher level.”
LACC chairperson Mr Lesiba Mothoa congratulated him, saying the creative industry is “in good hands”. NATICMUSA national chairperson Dr Thobela Dlamini said the organisation now has a visible footprint in Limpopo.
