A 55-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, 48-year-old Florah Ramagalo, in Thothololo village in the Tshitale policing area.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, 14 April, when officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a residential property in the village.
On arrival, police found community members already at the scene. Inside a bedroom, they discovered the victim with severe upper-body injuries. Emergency medical services were called, but she was declared dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was asleep when the suspect allegedly entered the house. A heated argument reportedly followed, during which she was fatally stabbed with a sharp object.
A murder case was opened at Tshitale police station.
Police said detectives later received information about the suspect’s whereabouts. The tip-off was followed up, leading to the man’s arrest on Wednesday.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Tshitale Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder.
