A 42-year-old man is behind bars after being arrested on Friday, 27 February, for the alleged repeated rape of his 15-year-old stepdaughter, a crime police say dates back to December last year.
According to police information, the suspect is accused of raping the teenager on several occasions, starting on 2 December 2025. The latest alleged incident reportedly occurred recently when the man arrived home in a state of intoxication.
It is alleged that the man went to the victim’s room and raped her. The traumatised teenager later confided in her mother about the ordeal, but the mother allegedly ignored the child’s plea for help.
The case only came to light after a local social worker became involved. Upon learning of the abuse, the social worker intervened and immediately opened a case at the Siloam Police Station.
Police launched an investigation and traced and arrested the 42-year-old suspect, who remains in police custody.
The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance at the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Monday, 2 March (today), where he will face charges of rape.
Police investigations are continuing.
