A 29-year-old man was shot dead while sitting in his vehicle in Matswale Extension 9, Musina, during the early hours of Monday, 6 July.
According to a police report, the incident occurred at about 01:45. On arrival, police found the victim slumped over in the driver's seat of a silver-grey VW Polo with multiple gunshot wounds. Several spent cartridges were recovered at the scene.
Emergency Medical Services personnel declared the man dead at the scene.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the deceased was with a female companion inside the vehicle when unknown suspects allegedly opened fire. The woman was injured in the attack and taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said the motive for the shooting remains unknown and that no arrests have been made.
Acting Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers condemned the killing and instructed investigators to use all available resources to track down those responsible.
