The community of Nkavele, outside Malamulele, was shocked on Sunday, 30 August, when a man was stabbed to death at a popular eating house in the village.

The incident occurred at around 16:00, as patrons were enjoying their beers. Reports suggest the victim and suspect had been drinking together when an argument broke out. The suspect, aged 39, allegedly left the scene but returned with a knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim, identified as Musa Mthombeni, 29. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was later arrested at his nearby home.

A local resident, who went to the scene after hearing of the attack, described the community's shock.

"On arrival, I found many people gathered. After a short while, the body was taken away by forensic pathologists. We are still baffled and shocked. No one knows what could have sparked the deadly argument. This is a very cool place where locals chill in peace, but now they will be scared. This is the first incident of its kind here. Two wrongs will never make a right. A precious life was lost, brutally. This is very painful," he said.
