Man swept away by Nwanedi River still missing

Police are searching for 36-year-old Livhuwani Jerry Ndou, swept away by the Nwanedi River while crossing with his father. He was unable to swim against the strong current and has been missing since Saturday. Community searches continue, and police are investigating.

The police at Tshamutumbu are searching for a 36-year-old man who was swept away by the Nwanedi River near the Madimbo crossing on Saturday afternoon, 7 March.

According to police, Livhuwani Jerry Ndou had gone to the mountains with his father earlier that day to pray. The two were returning to their village when they attempted to cross the river at about 16:00. Police say Jerry was unable to swim across and was swept away by the strong current. He has been missing since the incident.

Community members and authorities have been searching the area, but Jerry had not been found at the time of publication. Tshamutumbu police have opened a missing person inquiry docket and investigations are continuing.
