Police in Tshilwavhusiku are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death at Madombidzha Zone 2 in the Sinthumule area on Sunday, 15 February, at about 02:30.
Acting Vhembe police spokesperson Capt Vuledzani Dathi said police received a report that a woman, identified as Vhatshilele Sikuba (22) of Madombidzha village, had been stabbed. When police arrived at the scene, emergency medical personnel were attending to the victim, who was certified dead on site.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Sikuba had gone with a male friend, Zwivhuya Ramaremela, to his home. Neighbours allegedly heard screams and were alerted that she had been stabbed. The suspect then fled the scene. He is alleged to have gone to Sikuba’s family to inform them that he had killed her.
According to a source close to the deceased, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Sikuba and the suspect were living together as girlfriend and boyfriend.
The suspect remains at large and police investigations are continuing. Dathi urged anyone who may have information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
