The case in which Masindi Clementine Mphephu contests the kingship of the Vhavenda, was dismissed in the Thohoyandou High Court this past week.
Mphephu previously challenged President Jacob Zuma's decision to recognise her uncle, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, as king. Ramabulana would have been crowned earlier this year, but Masindi secured a high court interdict preventing the coronation from going ahead.
In court papers Masindi's defence counsel argued that the traditional council's approach was unconstitutional. She believes she's the rightful heir and that she was being sidelined because she is a woman.
Judge President Ephraim Makgoba said on Tuesday that he will provide reasons for his dismissal of Masindi's case next year.
