Former Black Leopards and The Bees coach Joel Masutha, popularly known as “The Prophet”, has secured another coaching job in the Betway Premiership after being appointed head coach of newly promoted Kruger United.
Masutha is best known for guiding Black Leopards to promotion to South Africa’s top flight on two occasions. Earlier this year, he parted ways with the relegated Leopards and subsequently joined ABC Motsepe League side Musina United.
He was later recruited by The Bees, who were battling relegation in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Under his leadership, the team managed to avoid relegation and finished the season in 10th position.
Following Kruger United’s promotion to the Betway Premiership last month after they were crowned Motsepe Foundation Championship winners, the club moved swiftly to secure Masutha’s services. He officially joined the club last week and will now be tasked with preparing the team for its debut season in the country’s top division.
Masutha said he had been given a clear mandate to ensure the team remains competitive in its first Betway Premiership campaign.
When asked which departments would be strengthened first, Masutha said he needed more time to assess the squad before making recommendations to management.
“We are confident that his vast experience with top clubs around the world will benefit our team. We call on our supporters to give him the necessary support. We will implement changes where necessary and stand firmly behind those decisions,” said veteran Black Leopards player Roggert Nyundu.
