Dididi-based long-distance runner Nditsheni Mathobo, who is currently running from Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to Thavhani Mall in Thohoyandou, said he was confident he would cross the finish line at Thavhani Mall this Friday.
After resting in Alberton last Thursday, he resumed his run from Germiston to Pretoria on Friday. On Saturday, he covered 71 km and entered Limpopo Province in the afternoon.
Speaking to Limpopo Mirror on Tuesday morning before starting his daily run in Mokopane, Mathobo said he had covered 921 km in 14 days, with 220 km remaining.
He explained that he still had 11 days left as he had initially planned to complete the entire distance in 26 days. He left Durban on Monday, 21 July.
"But because on some days I run more than 75 km, I will finish this long-cherished dream race in just 18 days," he said.
Mathobo is calling on all sport-loving people to come and welcome him at Thavhani Mall on Friday.
