Venda Football Club (VFC) must beat Highbury FC to boost their chances of escaping relegation when they meet in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
VFC, or Maunavhathu as they are affectionately known, are currently at the bottom of the log with nine points from 13 matches. Although the club recently appointed Serbian coach Vladislav Heric as head coach, VFC are still struggling to find a winning formula.
Maunavhathu have had mixed fortunes in their last two official games. They delivered a resounding 4-1 victory over JDR Stars in the Nedbank Cup qualification round at Soshanguve Giant Stadium on Tuesday, 3 December. However, they suffered a 2-4 defeat to Baroka FC at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo last Saturday.
Black Leopards are preparing for a challenging encounter against Baroka FC at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo in one of three matches scheduled for Friday afternoon.
The pace-setters, Durban City, will visit Milford FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban. Other weekend fixtures include: Casric Stars vs Kruger United, Hungry Lions vs Upington City, Pretoria Callies vs Cape Town Spurs, Orbit College vs JDR Stars, and University of Pretoria vs Leruma United.
