Venda Football Club (VFC) are confident of securing all three points in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match against JDR Stars at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium, outside Pretoria, on Saturday afternoon. This will be VFC's second consecutive away match.
Known as Maunavhathu, VFC put up a strong performance two weeks ago, holding the University of Pretoria FC to a 1-1 draw at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria. VFC head coach Vladislav Heric remains optimistic, stating that nothing will stand in their way of collecting maximum points on Saturday.
Heric said his primary goal was to lift the team out of the relegation zone before the conclusion of the first-round league fixtures. VFC are currently bottom of the log with eight points from 10 matches. However, Heric noted that a move to eighth place was possible if they won their next two games.
JDR Stars, meanwhile, are among the league title contenders. They are currently fifth in the standings with 16 points, eight behind league leaders Milford FC.
The only match scheduled for Friday evening sees Cape Town Spurs host Baroka FC at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town. The game will mark Joel Masutha's debut as head coach of Baroka FC.
On Saturday, Black Leopards will face Upington City at the Thohoyandou Stadium, while Casric Stars will host Pretoria Callies at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. League leaders Milford FC will travel to Kimberley to play Hungry Lions at the Galeshewe Stadium.
Other fixtures include Kruger United vs University of Pretoria and Orbit College vs Durban City.
