Mayor hands over satellite library to school

The mayor of Makhado Municipality, Cllr Mavhungu Luruli, handed over a satellite library to Ratshikwekwete High School at a ceremony that was held at the school premises of Tshitungulwane village in the Tshimbupfe area outside Vuwani a week ago.

It came at the same time as the rest of the country was commemorating World Book Day. Luruli said that the municipality decided to celebrate World Book Day at Tshitungulwane, where they had no library at all. "Reading is a non-stop journey. As learners, you must read to change your life for the better. Books inspire change, so as young people you must read your books," she said.

World Book Day in South Africa has been coordinated by the Centre for Books since its establishment in 1998.

Apart of the satellite Library, Luruli also donated a computer to the school. According to her, community members were also allowed to use the library she handed over to the school.

The principal of the school, Dr Elphus Mavhivha, urged community members to come in numbers to use the library. "Together with the Makhado municipal library, we can achieve more," he added.

Ratshikwekwete High School is situated in one of the remotest parts of the Makhado municipal areas.
