The newly installed traditional leader at Tshithuthuni is also a medical doctor. Dr Mpfariseni Ndwambi was inaugurated as Vhamusanda of Tshithuthuni village under the Thengwe Tribal Council on Saturday, 25 January.
The inauguration was conducted by Thovhele Vudzidzhena Nethengwe, while Limpopo's MEC for Economic Development Environment and Tourism, Mr Tshitereke Matibe, witnessed the ceremony.
Vhamusanda Ndwambi succeeds his late father, Vhamusanda Mafanedza Ndwambi, who passed away in November 2021. After his inauguration, he assured the gathering that he was ready to serve his community, promising to consult the elders and leaders in his clan, including Thovhele Nethengwe.
"Water shortages in and around Tshithuthuni, Tshidongololwe, Madzivhanani, and other surrounding communities remain a serious challenge. With the help of my advisors, I will engage with the Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) to address this issue," he said.
He expressed gratitude to the committee that had managed affairs in his absence and ensured the smooth running of the council after his father's passing in 2021. During his speech, he named Tshenge Rennet as khadzi and Orifha Ndwambi as ndumi.
Thovhele Vudzidzhena Nethengwe, who conducted the ritual, said he was pleased that the new leader was also a medical doctor. He added that young traditional leaders like Ndwambi would contribute to the development of the village and encourage the youth to prioritise education.
"You must respect your community and consult with the elders. You will be one of 26 traditional leaders under the Thengwe Tribal Council, and you will be expected to attend imbizo and induction services as part of strengthening your ability to lead the community," said Thovhele Nethengwe.
