The School of Law of the University of Venda (Univen), in partnership with the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria (UP) will host the Annual Helen Kanzira Memorial Lecture next Wednesday (1 August).
It will be delivered by Justice M Maya, president of the Supreme Court of Appeal.
The memorial lecture will take place at Univen's Lecture Hall E2 from 09:00 to 12:00.
According to a statement by the director of communications and marketing of Univen, Takalani Dzaga, the memorial lecture will be held in honour of Ms Hellen Kanzira, a graduate of the pioneer class of the master's degree in human rights and democratisation in Africa at the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. She passed away in 2007 at the age of 39.
On 2 and 3 August, Univen will continue to host the Ubuntu Conference and a seminar with national and international speakers. The seminar will take place at Univen's Research Conference Centre.
