GIYANI – Dynamos consolidated their position on the log when they humbled the much-respected Pietersburg City Pillars 1-0 in their Premier First Division League match that was played at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday.

If it was not for the fact that soccer is about scoring goals, Pillars would have won the game in the first half. They were by far a better team in as far as ball possession is concerned. Realising that the odds were all against them, the players of Dynamos started to display their rough tackles. The referee who flashed a yellow card to their centre half, Lyborn Mathebula, calmed the situation.

Another player who went into the referee's book a little later was Elijah Lekalakala of City Pillars. He tackled Thabo Kekana roughly. The scoreboard was still begging for a score when the teams adjourned for half time.

The technical staff for Dynamos, headed by Mr Jacob Sakala, revealed their wisdom by instructing the players to be more offensive than defensive. They added more pressure to the opponents when they substituted their diminutive midfielder, Josam Ndou, for Gerald Mtshali.

They kept the supporters' spirits high when they missed two sure goals in quick succession. The long-awaited goal came in the 86th minute via Goodman Makhubela who released a brilliant volley from the centre of the pitch to beat the Pillars' keeper, Musiwalo Mavhina.
