Folovhodwe Mighty Stars will not take part in the next stage of the Zimunga Soccer Tournament. They were booted out 3-1 by Mikhado FC at the Zwigodini grounds on Saturday.
Mikhado neutralized the Stars through their dribbling skills. Their dribbling wizards, Lucky Masutha, Phathutshedzo Thifhulufheli and Mpho Mavhandu, were a thorn in the flesh of the defence of Stars throughout the game.
It took only six minutes for Mikhado to open their account. Their lethal striker, Rendani Thavhana, received a beautiful pass from Aluwani Ndou inside the box and beat the keeper with a ground cutter. Mighty Stars tried every trick in the book in their bid to find the equalizer, but Mikhado continued to frustrate them through their fine dribbling skills.
The team from the Nzhelele Valley were two goals up when the referee, Mr Mulalo Mubva, blew the half-time whistle. Their second goal came nine minutes towards half time. Mpho Mavhandu beat the offside trap after receiving a neat pass from Rendani Thavhana and sent the keeper the wrong way.
Stars managed to pull one back in the 68th minute. Their overlapping central defender, Phineas Ravhuhali, forced his way through the defence of Mikhado and blasted in a rocket. That was an insult to the Mikhado strikers. They increased the margin when Mpho Mavhandu found the net with a long-range half volley.
Mikhado could have scored another one later in the game. Their fast forward, Rendani Thavhana, received a pre-cooked pass from Mpho Mavhandu and hesitated for far too long at the edge of the box until he lost possession.
