Nicole Nelushi believes her crowning as Miss Mashau 2025 is more than just an accolade - it is a platform to drive meaningful change within her community. The 22-year-old competed against 10 contestants during the crowning event, held at Elias Nefale Eco Estate on 30 December 2024.
Inspired by the Bridgerton theme, which emphasises regal style, etiquette, and poise, Nelushi sees the crown as a responsibility to uplift and inspire, particularly among the youth. Her motto is: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams, for it is in dreaming that we shape the possibilities of tomorrow."
She matriculated from Liivha Combined School in 2020 and pursued tertiary education at Rosebank College, where she graduated cum laude with a bachelor of information technology in business systems in 2023.
"I believe that when young people are empowered, they don't just change their own lives; they change the world. To build a brighter future, we need to groom our young future leaders. I want to show others that success is not just about beauty or external appearance but about inner strength, resilience, and making a difference in the lives of others," she said.
Nelushi plans to collaborate with organisations and youth groups to develop programmes that promote these causes. However, the journey to the crown was not without its challenges. "At times, I doubted myself. The pressure to perform perfectly was overwhelming, but with prayer, family support, and determination, I overcame those moments and gave my best," she said.
Ms Mulanga Mashau, the organiser, noted that this year's winner stood out for her poise, authenticity, and commitment to her community.
