Mmanare Phillipine Sithole, a radio presenter at Musina FM, uses her platform to empower parents and inspire children. Her programme, A re aganeng, airs on Thursdays from 11:00 to 12:00 and explores ways to raise successful children, with a particular focus on the experiences of single mothers.
In a recent interview with Limpopo Mirror, Sithole discussed her programme's focus and its impact on factors contributing to children's success. She explained that she does not shy away from difficult topics, such as whether children raised by both parents receive the support they need. She also noted that parents are sometimes reluctant to correct their children's mistakes.
Drawing from her own experience, Sithole shared how losing her father at 13 placed the responsibility of raising her and her three younger siblings solely on her mother. She emphasised the hardships her mother faced and the strict discipline she instilled, particularly in Sithole as the eldest. This upbringing, she believes, instilled in her a sense of pride and self-respect—qualities she has, in turn, passed on to her own children.
Offering words of encouragement to single parents, Sithole said, "Being a single parent doesn't mean you can't raise your children successfully. It is all about focusing on their future."
Addressing children directly, she urged them to discover their purpose. "Understand why you're here and why God placed you in your family," she advised.
