The Safa Vhembe MMK Administrators league match between Benny's Care and the current log leaders, Makhitha Oscar Stars, at Tshiozwi ended in chaos on Sunday. At that stage, Benny's were leading 1-0.
It was a balanced match, with both sides playing attacking football. In the 76th minute, the defence of Stars lapsed and Ernest Munyadziwa scored. In the 81st minute, everyone was convinced that Lucky Funyufunyu had scored. The assistant referee kept his flag down at time, and pointed for a goal kick.
Officials and supporters of Stars then invaded the pitch and chased the lone assistant referee, Mr Solomon Mulaudzi, off the grounds, accusing him of favouritism. Referee Naledzani Ndouvhada then called the two captains and talked to them, but blew the final whistle when regulated time had expired.
