Madombidzha Western Stars beat Tshiozwi Dynamos 2-1 in their MMK Admistrators League match at Tshiozwi on Saturday.
It was evident from the start that Stars were going to collect full points as the hosts were outclassed in all departments. Dynamos had their first regret in the fifth minute. Murendeni Tshidada missed a golden chance when he shot wide. Dynamos came close to scoring again in the 24th minute. Velaphi Mphaphuli held onto the ball for too long within Stars'danger area, until he lost possession.
Pfano Sithuga of Stars scored the only goal of his team in the 30th minute. He unleashed a powerful header from outside the box and the keeper of Dynamos, Vhuthu Netshiobvani, watched in disbelief as the ball crossed the goal line.
Mpho Malima and Maodzi Maruli of Dynamos were booked for different infringements during the match. Dynamos brought on Mashudu Nengovhela, Nyathi Muvhango and Thabelo Netshiendeulu. They did not change the complexion of the match as they were tightly marked by their opponents.
In the second half, Dynamos reduced the margin when Mpho Mavhandu's shot hit the back of the net. Realizing that their chances were slim, Dynamos abandoned their positions and packed themselves at the far back. The speedy striker of Stars, Daniel Mafunisa, scored his team's winning goal in the 85th minute after beating the off-side trap.
Stars introduced Alugumi Mamugudubi for the injured Andries Masingi late in the match.
