Ms Rebecca Dzivhani, veteran member of the Assembly of God Church in Shayandima and mother of the well-known Dr Fitzgerald Dzivhani, was joined by her children, relatives, friends, and church members to celebrate her 70th birthday, held at the Biaba Events Centre on 19 March.
Dzivhani is regarded as the mother of all in Shayandima. One of her children, Ms Lufuno Matsila, said her mother had raised them single-handedly and under very difficult conditions, but that they had been taught good morals and were always encouraged to take their education seriously. The day's celebration was therefore to honour their mother. "It was right to organise a party for her because many people will not get to reach her age. It is good to pay tribute to someone while they are still alive. We love our grandmother dearly as she loves us too."
"Today I am a very happy person as my grandchildren showed me that they really and truly love me. I thank God for caring for me and hope He makes me live even longer than this," said Ms Dzivhani. Her advice to the youth out there is to avoid all evil things. "If you live a clean life, God will bless you and you will live long." she said.
