Mphaphuli wants to inspire through his message of faith

Sibasa author and preacher Phumudzo Edson Mphaphuli writes books to inspire spiritual growth and equip church leaders. Having transitioned from a corporate career, he now uses his writing and extensive preaching experience to publish impactful Christian titles and mentor other aspiring authors.

Books that call readers to put God first are at the heart of the work of Sibasa-born author and preacher Phumudzo Edson Mphaphuli. Through his writing, he hopes to inspire spiritual growth and equip church leaders with the knowledge to strengthen their ministries.

The 55-year-old author grew up moving between several parts of the Vhembe region, including Biaba, Vuwani and Shayandima, as his father’s job required the family to relocate frequently. Before dedicating himself fully to ministry and writing, he spent 16 years in the corporate sector working as a safety officer, a role that involved compiling extensive reports.

His interest in publishing dates back to his time in the corporate world, where he co-founded an in-house newsletter and served as its editor. In 2001, he also co-founded the now-defunct Forever Christian Newspaper.

He began writing manuscripts around 2011, believing that writing offered a powerful platform to share his teachings. His first published book, Fight to Win, was released in April 2025. Since then, he has written several titles, including Cheese Doesn’t Win Battles, Give God a Chance, Bible Interpretation Masterclass and Heaven’s Courtroom Revealed.

Although many of his books were published in 2025, much of the material had been developed over the years through sermons and study notes. As a preacher who delivers hundreds of sermons annually, he often converts his teaching outlines into book chapters.

In addition to writing, he mentors aspiring authors and has already helped two pastors publish books, while guiding seven others through the writing process. He hopes to release seven more titles in 2026, including The Kiss that Betrays, Divine Disruptions and The God of Transitions.
