Matangari-based musician Mpho Muswede has released a gospel album marking a significant turning point in his personal, spiritual and creative journey. The project represents a deliberate shift towards a sound and message shaped by faith and renewed purpose.
Muswede said the album was inspired by a period of self-discovery following the release of a single and an EP. During this time, he realised his vocal ability and calling in gospel music, despite not previously identifying as a gospel artist. The album draws on everyday life challenges faced by many, offering messages of encouragement and spiritual reflection.
Musically, the project explores a modern approach to gospel, moving away from repetition while refining and improving earlier sounds. Muswede described the album as his first full gospel project, serving as a foundation for future work rather than a final statement.
At the heart of the album is a message of perseverance in prayer and faith in God as a source of strength. Muswede said his relationship with God influenced the songwriting and recording process, making the production feel lighter and reinforcing his belief that nothing is impossible through faith.
The project features a collaboration with Thembueh The Vocalist, who contributed a verse. Muswede handled the production, composition, songwriting and vocals himself. Looking ahead, he hopes the album will have a meaningful ministry impact, with listeners encouraged to look out for a forthcoming EP titled Pulane Dza Vhutshilo.
