Limpopo-born music producer and songwriter Lerato “Mr Mabela” Mabela is using his music as a heartfelt prayer for success, urging a higher power to open doors of opportunity for his life and career.
Originally from Hamadodonga village outside Louis Trichardt, Mr Mabela has released a powerful single titled Impumelelo Yam (My Success), a song that carries a message of hope, perseverance and faith. Through the track, the emerging artist reminds listeners that success is something everyone longs for, not only for themselves but also for their loved ones.
Mr Mabela’s passion for music began at an early age when he was involved in dancing and developed a deep love for sound and rhythm. After completing matric, he pursued studies in media practices, specialising in radio.
His journey in broadcasting saw him working at community radio stations, including Makhado FM and Jozi FM, experiences that exposed him to the inner workings of the music and media industry.
Although he later entered the corporate world, music remained his true calling. He continued producing music and performing as a DJ, gradually refining his sound and artistic identity.
His latest single, Impumelelo Yam, released on 28 February, is self-produced. “The song is a reminder to the higher power to never forget me, to guide me and open up all the opportunities in the world for my life and career,” he said.
