Frans Kwinda, better known as "Mr President", is currently one of Musina FM's most respected radio presenters and fast becoming a household name in local broadcasting circles. With his ability to alternate between shows, Kwinda already has a huge fan club in the border town of Musina, where he was born and grew up.
The radio personality said he just knew that his time had come when he saw Musina FM's advertisement for presenters in May 2020. "Without any doubt, I knew that I was about to fulfil my childhood dream of sitting behind the microphone. After I applied for a position, I was called in for an interview and everything went very well. Today, I am happy to be able to contribute to the development of my community through the airwaves," he said.
Because of his love for radio, Kwinda is in the studio every day of the week. He presents the radio station's current-affairs programme, Tshidziki tsha mafhungo, from Monday to Friday between 18:00 and 19:00, and reads the Tshivenda news on Saturdays. He closes his week by presenting the Reggae Beats show on Sundays from 11:00 to 13:00.
Although he has been on radio for only a short time now, Kwinda clearly has a natural talent for broadcasting. "When I was a kid, I was always at the top with unprepared speeches during my schooling at St Martin de Pores Primary School in Harper, Musina. It continued when I went on to Musina High School, where the teachers and fellow learners admired my presentation and debating skills. I couldn't resist the opportunity of join Musina FM because I just knew that I could do wonders behind the microphone."
To the young people who want to follow in his footsteps one day, he has this message: "The first success lies within yourself, when you love what you do. Be dedicated to work hard. If you do that, you will never run after success, but success will naturally follow you."
