Mu Africa Marko turns up the heat with new single ‘Hotsport’

Rhumba maestro Mu Africa Marko and his family band have released "Hotsport," a new single condemning hatred and social ills. This follows their successful 2025 hit "Tshikolo," with more music, including an album, expected soon.

Rhumba maestro Marko Clement Simbine, better known as Mu Africa Marko, and his family band, the More Fire Big Machine Band, continue to impress fans.

In December 2025, he left audiences wanting more with the release of his hit single Tshikolo, which enjoyed widespread airplay. Building on that success, the Mozambique-born artist, who resides in Matsila, Collins Chabane Municipality, has started the year strongly with a new single titled Hotsport.

Recorded at Mphagane Studios in Muledane and released on 30 January, the single once again features his family band. “Hotsport is inspired by evil people who, out of hatred, are recruited by haters to join their bandwagon of haters to disorganise people’s lives for their own selfish ends. This is demonic and should be done away with,” he said.

Mu Africa added that brutal killings and other social ills stem from hatred and should be discouraged at all costs. He said the single was a New Year’s gift demanded by his fans.

“More is still to come. We are releasing one single at a time and this will culminate in an album very soon. For the time being, dance to Hotsport,” he said.

Mu Africa began his musical journey in 2000 when he and his uncle, Velaphi Nyatsumba, moved from Mozambique to South Africa to buy their first instruments. He later joined a rhumba band led by popular musician Amos Ngomane. In 2006, he formed his own band and released his debut album, Volume 1 Movondzo, in 2007. He has since produced several albums, including Volume 9 Vhutshilo (2022) and Mudzimu (Bvumo) (2024).
