If there is one thing musician Muneiwa Walter Mawela enjoys most in music, it is collaborating with other artists. Better known as Munymax in the entertainment industry, the popular musician from Maniini outside Thohoyandou has, over the years, recorded several albums, EPs, and singles, many of which feature collaborations with big-name local artists.
His music career kicked off in 2012 under the stage name MM Boy. It was in 2015 that he changed his stage name to Munymax, reflecting his growth as an artist.
On 26 December 2019, he released his first album, Mvelaphanda, which included the song Dzia Vhuya (Vhapolo), a track that made him a household name. The song's music video was directed by popular and controversial comedian SABC Livhu. The album was followed by the 2020 single Asivhothe, a collaboration with EazySA and Ramzeey.
In the same year, he was nominated in three categories at the Tshivenda Music Awards (TSHIMA): Best Artist of the Year, Best Song of the Year, and Best Newcomer of the Year.
His second album, Asimagumo, released in 2021, featured collaborations with Eazy SA, Isaiah Everest, Mukosi, Chris Bang, Ras Canly, Asa Tee, Jr Player, Shezz, and Mazwale. The project, produced by the likes of Adroitbeatz, Rabza, Pro, and DG Beats Lampady, became an overwhelming success. A hot track, Thi Nga Do Tenda, was released in 2022 and was well received by fans. To add to his list of hits, on 3 May last year, he released another single, Mutakalo.
As if that were not enough, in December last year, he released an EP, All About Love, on which he collaborated with the crème de la crème of local music, including EazySA, Meskay, Onetime Muimbi, Romeo TheGreatwhite, Nevie Blue, and Topcha Noula.
"The EP explores different aspects of love, including the song Nga Vhone, which is a prayer for relationships. Music is my passion and the core of who I am. Every song I write and perform reflects my love for music, and I am dedicated to sharing my music with the world," he said.
