Muraida FC crowned winners of Pollvidy tournament

Muraida FC emerged as the champions of the inaugural Pollvidy Lifestyle tournament, defeating Siloam XI Bullets 4-2 in the final played at the Mushaathoni Grounds on Sunday.

Muraida FC emerged as the champions of the inaugural Pollvidy Lifestyle tournament, defeating Siloam XI Bullets 4-2 in the final played at the Mushaathoni Grounds on Sunday.

As the winners, Muraida FC received a new soccer kit, gold medals, and a year-long sponsorship from the sponsors, Pollvidy Lifestyle and Butchery. Siloam XI Bullets, the runners-up, were awarded silver medals and a soccer kit, while Lalumba FC, the third-placed team, received bronze medals.

The knockout tournament, supported by eight teams, featured four teams from the Makhado Local Football Association (MALFA) and four SAB League teams. The competition commenced on Friday, 16 June, and concluded on Sunday. Following the final match, prizes were presented to both teams and outstanding individual performers.

Morgan Mpho of Muraida FC received the Player of the Tournament trophy, while his teammate, Rotshidzwa Maanda, earned the Golden Boots award for being the top goal scorer. Rudzani Mukheli, the goalkeeper of Siloam XI, was recognised as the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and Tshanduko Phungo of Lalumba was voted the Players' Player of the Tournament for his exceptional dribbling skills. Caiphus Khedzi from Thononda All Stars was honoured as the Best Young Player of the Tournament.

Maanda Vhakoma Siphuma, the main sponsor and organiser of the tournament, said that the primary objective was to bring the youth together on Youth Day and keep them engaged. Siphuma stated that the tournament would become an annual event, with the winning team receiving a full sponsorship each year.
