Following a four-month long search, police have managed to locate and arrest a suspect in connection with the murder of Ms Portia Rasilavi (35).
Rasilavi was stabbed to death earlier in the year. According to the provincial police spokesperson Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident took place in the Mphephu policing area near Thohoyandou. Ngoepe said the motive behind the murder is still unclear, but they are hoping that the arrested suspect can assist with their investigation.
On Thursday, 14 September, the Tswane North Cluster police arrested a 32-year-old man that was hiding at Moeka Village in Themba north of Pretoria. "The suspect allegedly stabbed to death his girlfriend [Rasilvai] and ran away some time ago, until members of the community recognized him from a newspaper article and alerted the police," said Ngoepe.
The suspect is expected to appear before court during next week.
