The police in Thohoyandou are investigating a case of murder after the body of a man was found behind the Kwinda Brickyard in Ngudza village on Sunday, 20 June, at about 06:30.

Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the police had been notified by passers-by and had rushed to the scene. On arrival, they found the deceased with a bullet wound to his head and one live round on the ground. The man has been identified as 31-year-old Nthupheni Tshovhote and, according to the police, is a resident of the village.

However, Ngudza village's traditional leader, Vhamusanda Ramaano Ramugondo, denied that Tshovhote was one his residents. "The young man could have been killed and dumped in the village, but he is not one of our residents," he said. "We tried to find out from the community members, but no one here knows him. We are disturbed by people who kill other people and then dump them in our village," said Ramugondo.

The motive for the murder is still unknown and no arrests have been made yet. Police investigations continue.
