Musasenda Big Five are still in a celebratory mood after they were crowned the champions of the Vision Soccer Tournament at the Khubvi Benjie's Grounds on Sunday. Big Five had beaten the much-feared Vondwe XI Bullets 4-1 in the final to lift the trophy.
The winner was determined through penalty shootout after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time. Big Five managed to convert four of their five chances through Mushudufhadzi Sididzha, Ndivhaleni Manenzhe, Tsiko Masikhwa and Musiiwa Bele. Vhugala Makhuvha scored the only goal for Vondwe.
Big Five were presented with a whopping R15,000, a floating trophy and gold medals during a ceremony at the grounds shortly after the final whistle. Vondwe XI Bullets became R7,000 richer, apart from the silver medals they also took home. Berea FC, who finished in the third position, received R5,000 during the ceremony. Berea lost 0-1 to Musasenda Big Five in the first semi-final match played at the same venue earlier that day. The fourth-placed side, Nweli Stone Breakers, were given R3,000. Stone Breakers were crushed 0-3 by Vondwe XI Bullets in their semi-final match.
The best-goalkeeper award was presented to Khodani Matambila of Big Five. Matambila denied Bullets several sure goals during the game and saved two penalties. Tsivhudzo Dzege of Big Five was the recipient of the man-of-the-match award. The player-of-the-tournament award was presented to Tsepang Seanego of XI Bullets. Seanego was a marvel to watch in the three games in which he was in the team's starting 11.
Among the dignitaries who witnessed the occasion was the mayor of the Thulamela Local Municipality, Cllr Sarah Rambuda.
