Mushiru Young Tigers are still in a celebratory mood after winning the Khethi Gavhi Soccer Tournament at the Mushiru grounds last Saturday.

Mushiru Young Tigers are still in a celebratory mood after winning the Khethi Gavhi Soccer Tournament at the Mushiru grounds last Saturday.

Young Tigers beat Lukalo Hotspurs 2-1 in the final. As the champions, Young Tigers received R1 000, a floating trophy and soccer balls during a ceremony at the grounds shortly after the final.

Young Tigers beat Nduvheni FC 8-7 in their semifinal match. In the second semifinal, Lukalo Hotspurs beat Mubvumoni XI Arrows 1-0. The winner was determined through penalty shoot-out as the scoreboard was still blank when the referee blew the final whistle.

The runners-up, Lukalo Hotspurs, took home a cash prize of R500 and a soccer ball.

The teams booted out in the semifinal stage of the tournament were each presented with a consolation prize of R250 and a soccer ball. Four teams, Lukalo Hotspurs, Nduvheni FC, Mushiru Young Tigers and Mubvumoni XI Arrows, took part in the one-day event.

The coach of Mushiru Young Tigers, Mr Robson Nemauluma, was nominated the best coach and he received R1 000 and a trophy. Norman Mashimbyi of Young Tigers was nominated the man of the match in the first semifinal and Shonisani Mapholi of Lukalo Hotspurs was nominated the man of the match in the second one. They both received R100 during the ceremony.

When presenting the prizes, the sponsor, Mr Khethi Gavhi, indicated that the tournament will be an annual event and that the sponsorship will increase with time.
